CRITIC'S CORNER: CAROLE KING'S TAPESTRY


The Brill building on no.1619 Broadway on 49th Street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, just north of Times Square was Pop music's birthplace as almost 80% of all pop hits in the 60s and 70s was written on this 11 floor office space.


One of the Brill building's staff writer was songwriter Carole King. She wrote 61 hits that charted in making her the most successful female songwriter on the singles charts between 1962 and 2005 surpassing even Hit Writer Bacharach or Dianne Warren.


King is the most successful female songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century in the US, having written or co-written 118 pop hits, all rocketed up the charts in Top 40 and ranking in Billboard


THIS ALBUM of hers is a testament to her talent and great creativity containing a mass of songs she had written. A MUST HAVE album for all music lovers TAPESTRY is an icon of popular music. Do not fail to hear it in your lifetime.
